Located on the MU campus, the MU Meat Processing Facility and Meat Science Laboratories allow students to apply classroom knowledge in a real-world setting. The Meat Processing Facility is a fully functional, USDA inspected facility that produces meat from slaughter to sales in the Mizzou Meat Market.
The Meat Science program at Mizzou aims to serve the food industry through research, teaching, and extension/outreach. Undergraduate students have the opportunity to participate in research activities and projects, as well as gain hands on experience in meat processing and retail sales within the Meat Processing facility and Mizzou Meat Market. Additionally, undergraduates have the option to join and compete on the Collegiate Meats Judging Team. All of these opportunities work in preparing undergraduate students for a career or further education in agriculture and meat industry.
