How to make a Poster using PowerPoint
Using Microsoft PowerPoint, set the page setup size to 8.5" X 11" or A4, or preferably use the Custom 36" X 48" or another custom size up to 56 inches long and 50 inches wide. A commonly used page size is 36" by 48" which may be printed on this printer to only use 36" linear inches of paper. Next set your page to landscape or portrait. The poster is capable of 50" wide printing. Please contact Jess (number below) for further page size information.Create all tables and text in PowerPoint, do not cut and paste text or tables from other windows applications. Place all of your text and pictures on (1) slide, this will be the poster. Note: You will have to use very small font sizes, to squeeze all the text on the page. Hint: You can use the Zoom function, to Zoom in 200% , 400%, to see what you have typed if you uses the small page sizes. If you used the PREFERRED custom page size such as 36x48 inches, then view at 100 % will display the final printed size that the elements of your poster will be printed. Hint: Avoid using dark foreground text or objects on dark backgrounds.
Finally save your work on 3.5" diskette or Zip 100 or 250 meg disk or CD or an USB Flash Drive works great. The poster printer is located in room 170 of Animal Sciences Unit.

Make sure text displays correctly on another computer
When you create a presentation on a computer that uses one set of fonts, it might not look the same on another computer that has different fonts. To solve this problem, you can save the fonts — or embed them — in the presentation (This may be different for various versions of PowerPoint)..
-
On the File menu, click Save As.
- Click Tools, and then click Embed TrueType Fonts.
Notes
- You can embed any
TrueType font that comes with Windows.
Other TrueType fonts can be embedded
only if they have no license
restrictions. If a font can't be
embedded — for example, it's
not marked as being editable or
installable — a message appears
to tell you why.
- Saving a presentation with embedded fonts increases the file size of your presentation.
