MU Equine Teaching Facility

The MU Equine Teaching Facility at South Farm is important in providing a unique opportunity for undergraduates to receive hands-on training for careers in the equine industry. The on-farm classes and labs provide students the opportunity to learn and enhance skills in equine care, disease prevention, nutritional management, artificial insemination, foaling, handling and training.
Our facility consists of a 12 stall barn with large tack room, heated wash room, and bathroom. The barn itself also contains an indoor riding area that is perfect for class room activities. In addition to the barn, we have 4 small paddocks that are used to house our stallion, mares during their last few months of pregnancy, and any other horses that need to be separated. Most of our horses live in one of our surrounding pastures, totally ~50 acres.

We are in the process of renovating our facilities to match the energy our equine program now has. If you would be interested in making a donation to help make the MU Equine Teaching Facility something Columbia and the entire state can be proud of, please visit our donor page!
